RIVERSIDE JOY AFTER SHOOT OUT DRAMA

This weekend saw our league provide seven of the eight semi finalists in this seasons County Senior and Junior Cups and the games provided us with a morning of high drama. WOOLPACK WARM UP FOR COUNTY CUP WITH VITAL WIN

After last weekend’s “Old Farm” derby it was back to league action this week on a bright and pleasant morning. In the Premier Division, Acle Rangers warmed up for next weekends County Cup semi final with a 5-2 (Aaron Sanders 3, Peter Nobbs, Harrison Tooley) home win over The Middle Green a result that moved them into second spot, eleven points behind leaders Schoolhouse but with three games in hand. The draw for the quarter finals of the League Cup has been made and is as follows: Bungay Town v Woolpack FC, Poringland Wanderers v Newsman Celtic, Mischief FC v Acle Rangers, Riverside Rovers v Silver Fox. All ties to be played on March 10th Extra Time and Pens if required

FROST GAINS THE UPPER HAND AGAIN

Only a handful of games survived the overnight frost even as in many cases, the grounds were given extra time to thaw. DAY OF SURPRISE IN LEAGUE CUP

This weekend saw the 2nd round of the League Cup take place and it was a day that produced one or two surprises. Silver Fox riding high in Division 2 went to Premier side Farmhouse and won 3-0, Luke Middleton, Alan Perry and Ryan Tebble scoring, whilst Division 1 side Woolpack went to Hewett OB’s and scored six without reply.  Bungay Town also went to higher ranked opposition and came away with a 2-1 (Reece Evans, Allan Holden) victory

FELTHORPE DELIGHT, BUT FROST CAUSES HAVOC

After a heavy overnight frost, only a handful of games survived the whether this weekend. One of those was the only game played in the Premier Division where Hewett OB’s went down 4-1 at home to Riverside Rovers. THE LATE LATE SHOW AS LEWIS STRIKES

A stoppage time goal from Ben Lewis put Division 1 side Woolpack into the draw for the County Cup semi finals as they overcame Kings Lynn side Chilvers 1-0. A game that was tense and scrappy at times saw the home side dominate the first period and although the visitors improved after the break, neither goalkeeper was seriously troubled until Lewis popped up to score with a close range header to send players and spectators
