LEADERS SUFFER FIRST DEFEAT
Premier Division leaders The Silver Fox suffered their first defeat of the season as goals by Tim Henry and Curtis Hammond gave visitors AFC Wanderers a two goal victory. Norman Wanderers had a 2-0 home win over Salhouse, whilst The Grove kept up their recent good form with a 3-2 win at Dog House. In 1A leaders Norwich Ceyms lost by the odd goal of five against Rose Valley United and are now joined on ten points by Norman Wanderers Res who drew 1-1 at Hainford YCOB for whom Shaun Kelly was on target to give the home side their first point of the season. North Walsham had a good 7-3 win at Windmill Wanderers, whilst Hellesdon Athletic overcame Aylsham Black Boys 5-2. Goals by Daniel Childerhouse, Scott West and Gary Bee saw Earlham United keep their 100 per cent record when beating 1B leaders Norfolk CCSC 4-2. Haig FC won the North Norfolk derby, 4-1 at Aylsham Sunday and Matishall got their first point on the board as they drew 4-4 at home to Unicorns. It's five from five now for 2A leaders Aslacton who had a good 3-2 victory at Norman Wanderers "A". Acle Wanderers also had an away victory, 5-3 at Coachmakers Arms. 2B also sees Old Catton with five from five although they did it the hard way coming from 3-0 down to beat Poringland Wanderers Res 5--3. Danny Webster grabbed a hat trick for Poringland. Acle Rangers Res stay in contention after a 4-1 win at Spixworth Sunday. Horsford SC were five up in fifty five minutes at PL Rangers, but a stirring fightback by the home side brought goals for Rocastle, Joy, Dean and an OG but unfortunately not an equaliser before the full time whistle. St Faiths had a good 4-2 win at Ribs of Beef, whilst Sprowston Rovers thumped fourteen without reply past Thorpe Rovers.
In 3A, leaders Upton went down to a 3-1 defeat at home to The Otter, whilst the divisions only other game ended in a 2-2 draw between DCS Rapid and Sporting Longdale. Mischief Tavern have opened a five point gap at the top of 3B after a 3-1 home win over AFC Rompers. Bayer FC move up to third after winning 4-0 at Dynamo Denmark whilst Taverham United won 3-2 at Hethersett Res. Wilco Fast Fit claimed the only goal of the game at Aylsham Sunday Res and Unicorns Res drew 2-2 at home to Wymondham Rangers Res. 4A leaders Wellington Pink Uns, scored eight without reply at Norwich Airport and are two points ahead of Hellesdon Res who won 4-0 at Earlham Colney. Third placed Kings Arms won 4-1 at Brickmakers whilst Sprowston Royal Oak beat Silver Fox Res 8-2. AFC Mousehold will be delighted after registering their first win of the season, 5-1 at Sporting Longdale Res and Dancing Farmers gained a point in a 1-1 draw at home to Hockering. Nick Parker and Scott Laxton scored the goals as Maid Marion beat AFC Oak 2-1. The league leaders were also full of praise for their opponents and referee M. Coulson which is good to hear. Earlham United Res drew 4-4 at home to Spixworth Sunday Res, but stay a point ahead of Heartsease FC who had a good 7-1 victory at Hingham. Salhouse Rovers Res beat Wendene Wanderers 5-2 and Constitution won 2-1 at home to Felmingham. Hethersett "A" grabbed their second win of the season when they beat Freethorpe 4-2.

GOOD DAY FOR SILVER FOX
With games called off due to pitch conditions and County Cup games taking place, there was a limited programme in the Norwich Sunday League this week. The Silver Fox took the chance to go to the top of the Premier Division when they had a good 4-1 home win over Norman Wanderers. The Grove have moved up to fourth spot after scoring seven without reply at Salhouse Rovers. In 1A, Windmill Wanderers overcame Rose Valley Utd 3-2 and in 1B Mattishall YCOB went down 4-1 at home to Norfolk CCSC, who now top the division. Division 3B leaders Mischief won 5-3 at Aylsham Sunday Res, whilst in 4A there were two games, Hellesdon Ath Res moved into second spot after thumping AFC Mousehold 9-1 and the Earlham Colney, Brickmakers game saw the spoils shared in an six goal thriller. Two games also took place in 4B, Freethorpe Sunday beat Spixworth Sunday Res 3-2, whilst Maid Marian went down 2-0 at home to Hingham Athletic. In the County Sunday Senior Cup, there were wins for Poringland Wanderers, Earlham Utd, AFC Wanderers, Norwich Ceyms, Haig FC and North Walsham. Dog House came from 3-0 down to beat 1A side Unthank Arms 4-3 (aet) whilst Prince of Denmark and Manor Park must replay after a 1-1draw. The Intermediate Cup saw victories for Aslacton, DCS Rapid, PL Rangers, The Gordon, Sprowston Rovers, Wico Fast Fit, Bayer FC, Plasterers Arms, Old Catton, Ribs of Beef, Acle Rangers Res, Reepham Town and Horsford SC. Sporting Farmhouse and Newsman Celtic will replay next week after a 2-2 draw.

Once again this weekend (11/10/09) all games due to be played on Norwich City Council pitches, have been called off. Clubs who use these facilities must inform their league or cup opponents, and the referee. Other local council pitches may also be affected, so it is wise to check that the game is still on before travelling. All clubs playing in league or cup games, please remember that the result has to be phoned to league secretary Ben Casey by 2pm after the game.

There was still a good size programme in the Norwich Sunday League despite the concern over the extremely hard surfaces clubs are having to contend with. In the Premier Division reigning champions Marlborough suffered their second defeat on the trot as they went down 3-1 at The Grove. Sam Mallet scored for the hosts, before Marlborough levelled from the spot, but well taken goals by Lloyd and Lewis Greening earned the points for the home side. Wymondham Rangers 2-1 victory at Salhouse saw them go to the top of the division. Norwich Ceyms took over at the top of 1A after a 6-2 win at home to Unthank Arms. Previous leaders Norwich Busmen went down 1-0 at Hellesdon Athletic whilst Norman Wanderers Res moved up to third with a 4-1 win over Rose Valley Utd. Windmill Wanderers travelled to Aylsham Black Boys and came back with a 6-3 victory. Unicorns returned to the top of 1B after a narrow 1-0 win at Haig FC, and Norfolk CCSC also gained three points when beating Aylsham Sunday 3-2. Costessey Sports scored three without reply against Prince of Denmark, whilst Manor Park came away from Mattishall YCOB with a 3-2 win. In 2A, The Griffen had a good 5-3 win at Green Man, whilst a goal by Jatinder Dhaliwal earned Vale Longo a point at Norman Wanderers "A". Deopham went down 2-0 at home to Coachmakers Arms and Reepham had a good 2-1 win at Spixworth Utd. Acle Wanderers were disappointed at not being able to turn all of their possession into goals as they went down 1-0 at home to Castlegate. Despite losing 5-0, PL Rangers were full of praise for the organisation and performance of their opponents Old Catton. They lead division 2B by two points from Ribs of Beef who won 4-2 at Poringland Res. Acle Rangers Res beat Sprowston Rovers 2-0, whilst Leo Dudley and Mark Tracey scored for The Gordon as they drew 2-2 against St Faiths. Dereham Wanderers and Upton are still neck and neck at the top of 3A. Craig Foster, Simon Foster, Grant Matsell Jamie Paling and Tom Spalding all scored as Dereham won 5-3 at Bystanders (Bestway Taxis) whilst goals by Lake, Tubby and Elvin saw Upton come from 2-0 down to beat DCS Rapid 3-2. Heartsease Casuals praised the Newsman Celtic goalkeeper as they won 2-0, and I saw a good game at Stoke where the home side took a first half lead through Mat Seager but a close range effort on fifty five minutes by Matt Stanton earned a point for The Reindeer. Mischief lead 3B after a 4-1 victory over Sporting Farmhouse and Moles Rest got back to winning ways after beating Unicorns Res 4-2. Bayer FC thumped eight without reply against Aylsham Sunday Res and Wilco Fast Fit had a narrow 1-0 win over AFC Rompers. It was all square in the local derby between Wymondham Res and Hethersett Res as they shared four goals. This was enough to see Poringland top the division as previous leaders Wymondham Rangers were beaten 2-0 at home to The Grove. Silver Fox made it three from three as they beat Salhouse 2-0, whilst there was a great result for Quebec Rovers who won 3-1 at reigning champions Marlborough. Goals by Robinson (2), Spillane, Wright and Bennison helped Ribs of Beef to a 5-1 win over The Gordon whilst two goals for Chris Leveridge secured a 2-1 win for PL Rangers against Poringland Res. Sprowston Rovers beat Horsford SC 2-0 and St Faiths had a 5-2 win over Thorpe Rovers. Dereham Wanderers are setting a strong pace in 3A after beating Heartsease Casuals 6-1. Goals for Brown and Thomson gave Upton a 2-0 win over Temple Bar, and Whitworth, Durrant and Wright all scored as Newsman Celtic beat Sporting Longdale 3-1. DCS rapid won 6-3 at Mad Moose Arms whilst the Stoke FC secretary praised both sides as his team beat Bystanders (Bestway Taxis) 2-0, thanks to goals from Cameron and Seager. Moles Rest suffered another defeat, this time 3-1 at Hethersett Res, whilst Wymondham Res had a good 4-2 win at Dynamo Denmark. Felmingham made the long trip to Hingham worthwhile, by winning 4-1 and Spixworth Sunday Res scored five without reply at Wendene Wanderers. AFC Oak had a good 3-0 win at Salhouse Res and there was a first victory for Constitution FC who won 4-1 at Hethersett "A"
