NORWICH BUSMEN & UPTON TAKE DIVISIONAL TITLES

With the season's end fast approaching two more titles were decided today. A 3-0 (Allen 2, Swatman) home win over Hellesdon Ath coupled with a 5-0 defeat for nearest rivals North Walsham at Hainford YCOB, saw Norwich Busmen take the 1A title. Upton became champions of 3A after beating Temple Bar 4-2 (Glen 3, England). Congratulations to both clubs.

The big game in the Premier Division saw Quebec Rovers gain a narrow 1-0 win at second placed and Senior Cup winners AFC Wanderers. Joe Nathan scored the only goal of the game to make Quebec hot favourites to take the title. Wymondham Rangers moved up to third place after a 3-1 win at Norman Wanderers, whilst goals by Mallet, Clarke and Amis helped The Grove to a 3-2 victory at Silver Fox. A dress rehearsal for next week's league cup semi final saw Acle Rangers beat Poringland Wanderers 3-0.

In 1B, Costessey Sports gained an important 2-0 win at home to Aylsham, whilst Childerhouse 2, Bee 2, West 2, Allen and Brown were on target as Earlham Utd kept in touch with the leaders after an 8-1 victory at Mattishall YCOB. Sprowston Wanderers were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Haig FC, and Drayton beat Prince of Denmark 4-1. After receiving the leagues latest Sporting Award from fixture secretary Bernie Hardiman, Hillside OB went down 4-1 against Norfolk CCSC.

2A leaders Reepham Town completed their fixtures with a 3-1 home win over Spixworth Utd and must now wait to see if Aslacton can overtake them. After beating Plasterers Arms 6-1 (Jones 3, Miller 2, Rout) the South Norfolk side are six points behind Reepham with three games left. The divisions other game saw The Castlegate gain a good 3-2 win at Norman Wanderers "A". Any hopes Acle Rangers Res had of grabbing the runners up spot in 2B were dashed as they could only manage a 2-2 draw at bottom side Poringland Wanderers Res. Horsford SC finished their season on a high, beating Spixworth Sunday 6-1 and Sprowston Rovers shared the spoils with Ribs of Beef in a 1-1 draw.

With the Upton game already mentioned, the only other game in 3A, saw Sporting Longdale's last game of the season end in a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Newsman Celtic. In 3B, the race is on to finish runners up. Mischief Tavern finished their season with a narrow 1-0 victory over Dynamo Denmark. They finish the season on 43 points whilst third placed Taverham United, who beat Moles Rest 8-0 have 40 points and two games left. Wellington Pink Un's finished a successful first season with a narrow 1-0 win at The Brickmakers, whilst Sprowston Royal Oak warmed up for next weeks Norfolk Sunday Junior Cup Final with a 4-0 victory over Earlham Colney. KAY AT THE DOUBLE AS WANDERERS LIFT SUNDAY SENIOR CUP

Three cracking goals helped AFC Wanderers take the Norfolk Sunday Senior Cup as they overcame fellow Premier Division side Dog House 3-2 in an entertaining encounter at Carrow Rd on Wednesday evening. A crowd of just under 600 saw Aaron Kay set the tone of the match in the first minute when he took a pass from Luke Tuttle out on the left, cut inside and unleashed a ferocious drive into the top corner. AFC went two up after eighteen minutes following a carbon copy of the first goal. Dog House responded well and a clever header from Matty Banham reduced the arrears after twenty three minutes. Wanderers lost the lively Aaron Nixon soon after with what looked like a bad injury, but went in at half time with their lead intact. After fifty six minutes, Kay returned the favour to Tuttle as his pass put him in the clear, the AFC number nine producing an outstanding finish from the edge of the area to make it 3-1.Of the three County Finals at Carrow Rd this week this was by far the most exciting as both sides did the league proud and Andy Eastaugh made sure of a tense finish when he coolly slotted the ball home after rare hesitancy in the Wanderers defence, but despite Dog House's best efforts Wanderers held on to lift the trophy. Whilst Scott Sell and Andy Eastaugh were outstanding for their respective sides, the Sponsors Man of the Match award deservedly went to Aaron Kay. Well done to all.

Would other clubs please note, that any players from these clubs CANNOT play for anyone else, until the withdrawal fine has been paid and their player registration has been cleared by the league. Could all secretaries please alter their records accordingly.

Finally Constitution had a 3-1 victory at Salhouse Rovers Res.

My thanks go to the eight clubs who played at Sloughbottom this morning. I arrived at the park to see all sides and referee's changing outside after the changing rooms were closed due to vandalism and flooding. Well done to all concerned for getting the games played.
