NEW CLUBS WELCOMED INTO THE FOLD
At the Norwich Sunday League AGM held on June 14th at The Oaklands Hotel, ten new clubs were voted into the League for the 2011-12 season. Brooke FC, Bungay Town, Costessey Sports Res, Dilham Cross Keys, Manor Park, Phoenix Felthorpe, Salhouse Rovers Res, Schoolhouse FC, White Rose United and Windmill Wanderers have all joined and we wish them well. Norfolk County FA Chief Executive Shaun Turner addressed the clubs before the start of the meeting to give a brief outline of the new match based suspension rule which will be applied to all open aged football from next season. He pointed out that workshops will be run throughout the summer for clubs to get a greater understanding of the new rule. League Secretary Ben Casey, thanked clubs for their help throughout his second season in the post and announced that two clubs, PL Rangers and Chapelfield Rovers had applied for and been granted permission to play their home games on the 3G pitch at Easton College. It was also confirmed that the joint sponsorship deal between The Evening News and Copy I.T. would continue for a second season with clubs being given a donation toward their subscription fees. There were some changes made to the League Management Committee for next season. Will Jeffery has replaced Alan Williams as Assistant Secretary, whilst Steve Brown has taken over Will’s former role as Registration Secretary. Jason Bush from AFC Wanderers was elected onto the Management Committee and will no doubt prove a useful acquisition. Fixture Secretary Bernie Hardiman announced that the season would commence on Sunday September 4th.
