UNICORNS SWEPT AWAY IN THE WIND

With the Premier division top two not in league action this weekend, AFC Wanderers took the opportunity to close the gap on the leaders, by scoring nine (Farin Deeba 3, Matt Elwin 2, Craig Vincent, Luke McClure, Luke Tuttle, Craig Ritchie) without reply at Unicorns. Dog House also kept in touch by winning 7-2 at Aylsham Sunday and Acle Rangers had a 5-1 win at Norwich Busmen. There was a good victory for Hellesdon Athletic as they won 4-2 at Reepham Town.

Fiveways are starting to open up a gap at the top of 1A, after a 3-0 win at Aslacton. A single goal victory over Windmill Wanderers was enough for North Walsham Town to move up to fourth spot whilst Norman Wanderers are fifth after a good 3-2 win at The Castlegate. It’s now two wins on the bounce now for Horsford SC as they beat The Otter 4-1 at home. In 1B, Sprowston Rovers are now five points clear of Bayer FC after winning 2-1 at Haig FC. Bayer though, have two games in hand. St Faiths had a 4-1 victory at Spixworth Sunday whilst goals by Ramin Fakour-Zaker, Will Abbs and Oliver Bennison helped bottom side Rose Tavern to a good 3-2 win over Catton FC.

Deopham have moved up to second spot in 2A. Jonathan Oakley 2, Lewis McKerell and Carl Sturman scored as they won 4-2 at Acle Wanderers, whilst Shane Brister and Tom White replied for the home side. DCS Rapid drop a place after losing 3-1 at The Stores, whilst the resurgence of Green Man continues after an excellent 4-3 victory at Sprowston Sunday. Amos Bailey grabbed a hat trick and goalkeeper Colin Brzeczek used the windy conditions to also get his name on the score sheet. In 2B, leaders Moles Rest had a 3-0 home win over Heartsease FC and are three points clear of PL Rangers, who had a 6-1, win at Hethersett Athletic. Jordan Rocastle’s five goals took his tally for the season to 44 whilst a Matthew Goddard header added the sixth. Ribs Rovers were held to a 2-2 draw at home to Sporting Farmhouse and Acle Rangers Res won by the odd goal of seven against Hillside OB. Poringland Res went to Hingham and came back with a 5-3 win.

New Buckenham scored six against Sporting Longdale to stay top of 3A on goal difference from Riverside Rovers who beat Norman Wanderers A 5-2. Third placed Hellesdon Res scored seven without reply at Caseys Cosmos, and Mad Moose made it five wins from five as they beat Newsman Celtic 3-0. Dancing Farmers had a 3-0 home win over The Reindeer, whilst Constable Crusaders beat River Garden 2-0. In 3B, leaders One Love United just edged out third placed Bell Inn in a nine goal thriller. Second placed Salhouse Rovers found themselves two down at The Gordon before comeback goals from Neil Woolner (who made it 20 for the season) Kel Haywood and a Martin Woolner winner five minutes from time saw them take the points. The amazing run of Unicorns Res continues as they won 4-1 at AFC Oak after Brett Hadley had given the home side the lead, and Freethorpe had a good 2-0 win at Aylsham Res. Briston Wanderers seem to be returning to form as they won 2-1 at DEF FC, whilst a single goal was enough for Taverham Utd to win at Sloughbottom Revolution.

4A leaders completed a quick double over Eaton Young Boys as they won 4-1 and move five points clear of second placed Brooke FC who were held to a 1-1 draw by Hockering Res. Phoenix Felthorpe lost ground as well when they went down 4-1 at a fast improving Temple Bar, whilst Temples Property scored five without reply at Sporting Longdale Res. Despite only having ten men, Earlham Colney managed a good 4-2 victory over William Rovers. 4B leaders Drayton had a good 3-0 win at Windmill Elite where Tom Frost 2 and Sam Lincoln were on target. Drayton remain a point clear of William Wanderers who were 6-1 winners over Wendene Wanderers, whilst Schoolhouse FC are third after a 4-1 win at Costessey Sports Res. Dilham Cross Keys dropped points when they were beaten 4-2 at Salhouse Rovers Res and I saw the game at a windswept Hewett School between Chapelfield Rovers and Hethersett Res. Leon Campbell helped himself to a first half hat trick as Chapelfield, who played some good football at times in the conditions, led 3-1 at the break. Quick goals at the start of the second half saw the home side increase their lead before Paul Martin scored his second for Hethersett to pull a goal back. Chapelfield added two more before the finish to win 7-2
