AWARDS TO LEAGUE FOUNDERS The Norwich & District Sunday League held a dinner at The Airport Holiday Inn to celebrate its 50th year. Founder members Ray Kiddell and Alan Williams both talked about the early years to guests made up of leading County FA officials, committee members past and present, former referee's and the leagues longest serving Secretary Roy Chapman. Ray praised the volunteers, who he said were the lifeblood of local football, whilst an emotional Alan Williams said he was honoured to part of this league as it had made him so many friends in football. Current Chairman, Paul Ballard paid tribute to not only Ray and Alan but also Bernie Hardiman, Roy Tacon and Jimmy Gee, as well as remembering former Chairman Brian Burrell who sadly died last year. Alan, Bernie, Roy and Jimmy were presented with certificates to comemorate being awarded Honorary Life Memberships, whilst Ray was made Honorary Life President. |
