County Cups Take Centre Stage

This weekend saw the first rounds of the Norfolk Senior and Junior County Cups being played. In the Senior Cup Acle had an easy 5-0 win away at Vale Longo, Eliot Altay, Daniel Foreman, Peter Nobbs, Tom Cullumbine and Owen Gooch all scoring. Bryn Mullen picked up a brace as Horsford had a very good win against Kings Lynn side CSKA Emnth, Connor Green, Dan Mace and Roy Bevis with the other goals.  Schoolhoues continue their impressive start to the season after 4 goals from Shaun Taylor and 3 from Jack Hurrell saw them run out 7-2 winners against Silver Fox. There were 2 all Prem games. Aslacton went down 3-2 against Middle Green and Farmhouse progressed to round 2 with a 4-1 against Mischief. Phoenix were made to work hard against lower division, Viking but came away with a 3-2 win

 

There was a straight forward win for Barracks in the Junior Cup as they beat Woodton 10-0. Cringleford put up a great fight but finally went down 2-1 again Acle Rangers Reserves, Alex Kin and Harvey Sims scoring for Acle. AG Athetlic took the long journey to Thetford and returned empty handed, going down 5-0 against Danepak. Easton scored 7 of the 8 goals in their away win against East Tuddenham, Rhy Cousins 3, Carl Branson, Tom Cullum, James Denmark, Marcus Dunthorpe-McInerney. Eaton moved into round 2 by winning a 7 goal thriller against Hethersett Reserves, 4-3. Marriott from Div 4 testing themselves again Watton of Div 2 and it was the higher division side who took the honours, winning 5-1. Newsman Celtic are also into round 2 thanks to goals from Noah Downes and David Powles, giving them a 2-1 win against Freethorpe. Norman Wanderers A were given a massive fright against Div 4 side Sprowston United but squeezed into round 2 with a 5-4 win.  Tavern Old Boys had a good win at home against Aylsham 3-2. Felthorpe travelled to higher ranked team Cellar House and had an excellent 7-4 win (Liam Atkins 3, Jacob Yallop 2, Graeme Lockwood and Mark Bale). Eaton Park Corinthians travelled to Viking Reserves and thanks to goals from Adam Barry and Christian Everington, won 2-1.  Moose Park Rangers proved too strong for Salhouse Rovers winning 6-1. Long Stratton’s good start to the season continued with a win against William IV, 3-2. Yelverton had an excellent 4-0 win against higher opposition, Sporting Rackheath, Steffen Bassett, Tony Driscoll, Tom Knight and Joe Main scoring.

 

In league action, Woolpack top the Prem for the first time, beating Poringland 5-3. In Div 1, Norman top the table still after a hard fought 1-0 win against Windmill. AFC are 3 point behind, with a game in hand, thanks to a 2-0 win away at Hethersett, goals from Ben Colk and Alex Curran. DCS Rapid and Marlborough played out a 1-1 draw.
