AFC Rompers Print E-mail
AFC Rompers are looking to continue their recent encouraging performances by adding one or two players into the fold. We would dearly love another a forward or centre half as these are the only two positions we require. So if your sitting on the bench for a team that you know you should be playing in, come join a team that has by a country mile the best team spirit and desire of any team around and with a manager not selecting his friends ahead of you. LEADERS HELD BY THE GROVE Print E-mail

LEADERS HELD BY THE GROVE

To the relief of many players who sat up to watch the Ricky Hatton fight in the wee small hours (myself included), many games were postponed due to the heavy rain over the last few days making pitches unplayable.

After their shock defeat in last weeks League Cup, The Grove restored their pride when they held league leaders Marlborough to a 3-3 draw. The only other game in the Premier Division saw second placed Norman Wanderers slip up when they went down 5-4 at home to Mattishall YCOB.

The two games played in 1A saw the top two in action. AFC Wanderers brought The Silver Fox back too earth, beating them 5-0, whilst Eaton Beehive overcame Hainford YCOB 3-0. The top three teams were in action in 1B where leaders Salhouse won 5-2 at third placed Taverham United and Wymondham Rangers remain in second spot after a 4-3 win at Manor Park.

Second met third in 2A where Hellesdon Ath leapfrogged Gilson Bailey after beating them 2-1. Aslacton thumped Newsman Celtic 6-1, whilst Norwich Union beat Earlham Colney 3-1. Norwich CEYMS have opened up an eight point gap in 2B after beating Hethersett Res 6-3. Ex Mile Cross beat Earlham Utd 2-0 and Drayton had a 2-1 victory over Thorpe Rovers.

Plasterers Arms closed the gap at the top of 3A after beating Deopham 3-2 whilst Green Man won 4-0 against Temple Bar to remain in third spot. Bottom side Mad Moose went down 2-0 at home to The Reindeer. In 3B Taverham Utd Res were hammered 14-1 by leaders Norfolk CCSC and St Faiths won  3-0 at Spixworth. PL Rangers overcame AFC Rompers 1-0.

DCS Rapid go top of 4A after a 7-2 victory against Earlham Colney Res, although Reepham have three games in hand. Pulham won 4-2 at Upton and The Mitre went down 3-0 at home to Elm Tavern. There was a glut of goals in the Branford Arms v Coachmakers game with the visitors winning 10-5. The top three in 4B all had victories. Hingham 3-0 at Dancing Farmers, Felmingham 8-1 at home to Thorpe Marriot and Dynamo Denmark 4-1 at Sprowston Rovers. Well done to Royal Oak who won their first game of the season when they beat fourth placed AFC Fifers 4-3.
