WANDERERS CLINCH RUNNERS UP SPOT

A goal in each half by Jordan Scott was enough to earn Norman Wanderers the runners up spot in the Premier Division, when they beat nearest challengers Delaney's 2-0. It was not such a good day for Acle Rangers and Prince of Denmark. Mattishall YCOB beat The Grove 3-2 to retain premier status next season thus ensuring that Acle, who had no game today and Prince of Denmark who lost 5-1 at home to Rosary Rams, are relegated. Johnny Cogman scored twice for Poringland as they won 2-1 at Quebec. Dave Matthews replied for the home side.

In 1A, The Silver Fox completed their fixtures with a 3-2 win at Hainford YCOB, whilst Champion Ath continued their good end to the season with a 6-0 win over Aylsham Black Boys. Aylsham Sunday finish third in 1B after they thumped nine man Poringland Res 11-1.

Congratulations to Costessey Sports Sunday who completed a league and cup double when they beat Haig FC 4-1 to lift the 2B title

The final game of the season in 3B saw PL Rangers beat Taverham United Res 2-0, whilst in 4A Reepham Town completed a good first season, finishing third after beating Pulham United 5-2. In 4B, champions Hingham Ath beat Dynamo Denmark 5-2.

AFC BOOK PREMIER PLACE

Thanks to all clubs who observed a minutes silence this morning in respect of League Chairman Brian Burrell who sadly died this week. He will be greatly missed.

Delaneys hopes of snatching runners up spot in the Premier Division took a jolt this morning when they lost 2-1 at home to The Grove who now move into third spot. Of the teams struggling to avoid the drop Acle Rangers had a good 2-1 victory over Quebec, but Prince of Denmark remain rooted to the bottom of the table after a 4-0 defeat at Hethersett.

Congratulations to AFC Wanderers who completed the first part of what they hope will be a league and cup double, when they beat Eaton Beehive 4-1 to take the Division 1A title. I watched this game at Sloughbottom and saw AFC take a two goal lead in the first ten minutes, thanks to goals by Walsh and Edwards. This stung Beehive into action, but just as they looked like getting back into the game a header from Tuttle made it 3-0. The start of the second half saw a more determined Beehive and they created a couple of good chances before Wilcox pulled a goal back. The game was now more of a contest, but a sweeping AFC move saw an excellent finish by Walsh make the score 4-1. Eaton Beehive will now play Wymondham Rangers in the play off for the last promotion spot. Elsewhere Norwich Busmen won 3-0 against Freemasons Arms who were presented with the February Sporting award by league secretary Alan Williams before the game. There were home wins for Felthorpe and Champion Ath whilst Hainford YCOB had a good 5-1 victory at Winstone Rovers. In 1B Sprowston Wanderers completed their fixtures with a 2-1 victory over Taverham United and Aylsham Sunday won 2-1 at Unicorns.

Fixtures for this season in 2A were completed when Acle Wanderers beat Aslacton 2-1, whilst in 2B Costessey Sports moved to within four points of the leaders with a 3-0 win over Ketts Tavern. Haig FC and Drayton fought out a 3-3 draw in the divisions other fixture.

Stoke and Green Man played the seasons last game in 3A where the result was a 3-1 victory for the away side, whilst in 3B Norfolk CCSC finished their succesful season with a 2-0 win over Unicorns Res.

Well done to Norman Wanderers "A" who must had their supporters biting their nails as they won 4-3 at Reepham Town to clinch the 4A title. There was a surprise in 4B where champions Hingham went down 3-1 at Hethersett "A", whilst Royal Oak and Freethorpe drew 1-1.

REMINDER TO ALL CLUBS THAT LEAGUE RENEWAL FORMS MUST REACH SECRETARY ALAN WILLIAMS BY APRIL 30th.

AFC Wanderers celebrate winning the 1A title this morning
