GROVE STUNNED BY SILVER SERVICE
The first round of the Pink Un sponsored League Cup took place this morning, and despite the horrible weather, most games were played. Two sides from the First Division had good wins over Premier sides, The Silver Fox, 3-1 over The Grove and Aylsham Sunday who thumped Rosary Rams 7-0. Two sides scored double figures, AFC Wanderers, twelve against Farmhouse and Hainford YCOB, ten against Freemasons Arms. Poringland came from behind to beat Eaton Beehive 3-2 and Norman Wanderers won 4-2 at Winstone Rovers. Quebec Rovers overcame Unicorns 6-2 and Prince of Denmark came back from Felthorpe with a 3-1 victory. Mattishall scored five when winning at Taverham United whilst two teams won after extra-time, Norwich Busmen when beating Angel Gardens 4-3 and and Wymondham Rangers who won 4-1 at Salhouse.
Of the league games played this morning, Division 2A saw Windmill Wanderers take over at the top after a 7-3 win at North Walsham O.B. Previous leaders Gilson Bailey went down 3-2 at home to Norman Res, whilst Earlham Bridges drew 1-1 with Newsman Celtic. In 2B, Bayer ended the recent good run of Thorpe Rovers, beating them 4-2.
Only two games were played in 3A where Plasterers Arms edged closer to leaders Nelson after winning 3-2 at Deopham. The Reindeer beat Mad Moose 1-0. Norfolk CCSC top 3B after beating Costessey Sports Res 5-2. PL Rangers moved up to third place after thumping AFC Rompers 9-1 and St Faiths won 3-2 at Unicorns Res.
The top two in 4A both suffered away defeats. Reepham went down 5-3 at Elm Tavern and DCS Rapid lost 2-1 at Pulham. Norman "A" beat The Mitre 3-1 and Spoting Longdale moved off the bottom of the table when they hammered Branford Arms 10-1. There was a surprise in 4B as leaders Hingham went down 2-1 at home to Freethorpe. Second placed Felmingham won 4-1 at Sprowston Rovers. AFC Fifers beat Royal Oak 5-1 and Mundesley had a 5-2 victory over Hethersett "A". Mischief and Thorpe Marriot drew 3-3
