WANDERERS HAVE FUN IN THE SUN

AFC Wanderers completed a league and cup double this morning, when they beat Prince of Denmark 4-1 in front of a crowd of over 300 at Wroxham this morning. In a game played in glorious sunshine AFC took the lead in the 11th minute after a corner on the left frrom Kelly, was laid back by Vincent into the path of Gary Walsh who scored from close range. It had been a cagey opening by both sides, but after going behind Denmark started take the game to AFC and their front two of Holmes and Broomfield were proving to be a handful. After 35 minutes a good spell of possession football by AFC led to a cross by Kelly being punched off of the goaline by Kyle Halsey who was red carded for his troubles. Scott Sell's penalty brought a fine save from Jimmy Warner but he was powerless to stop Lee Edwards thumping home the rebound to put AFC two up. To their credit Denmark pressed forward and a good ball by Broomfield put Holmes through but he was forced wide by keeper Smith and the chance was gone. Despite being down to ten men Denmark looked to get back into the game after the break, and Holmes had a penalty appeal turned down by referee Coates. After an hour Cork had a chance to put AFC three up but hit the post from close range. At the other end Broomfield had a great chance to pull a goal back but his free header drifted wide. In 73 minutes Simon Davis made the game safe, scoring from close range to make it 3-0. Good work by Broomfield in the 80th minute gave Chris Holmes the chance to score the goal his play had deserved, and made the score 3-1, but deep into injury time Walsh added his second goal of the game to start the celebrations for their large support. Well done to all involved today and thanks to Wroxham F.C. for their excellent hospitality.
