RAMSBOTTOM INSPIRES COLTISHALL TO CUP VICTORY

Coltishall Sunday shocked favourites Marlborough in the Sunday League Cup Final at Wroxham this morning as they lifted the trophy after a 2-0 victory. In the opening exchanges both sides hit the woodwork inside the first 10 minutes. After twenty two minutes, a long free kick into the Marlborough penalty area saw Ramsbottom rise above the keeper to head home. Coltishall added to their lead seven minutes later when a shot from A. Bunton was deflected into his own net by Foulger. Marlborough tried hard to get back into the game but were held at bay by an impressive Coltishall defence. After the break chances were few and far between with the best of any that were created going to Coltishall who, inspired by the excellent Ramsbottom, held on to lift the trophy for the first time.

MARLBOROUGH TAKE TITLE

It was'nt all bad news today for Marlborough, as the cup final finished news filtered through from Easton College that visitors Acle Rangers beaten Hethersett Athletic 2-1 thus ending the title dreams of the home side. Congratulations to Champions Marlborough who take the title even though they had a three point deduction earlier in the season. They have set the benchmark for others to catch up.

In 1A Hainford YCOB breathed a sigh of relief as they beat Windmill Wanderers 3-1 to stay in the division whilst the visitors will now drop into 2A
