LEAGUE CUP FINAL

This weekend sees the final game of the Norwich & District Sunday League season when the showpiece League Cup Final between Acle Rangers and Poringland Wanderers takes place at the FDC, Bowthorpe, ko 10.30. Please take the chance to come down and give the game and the teams your support.

BELL INN REACH PREMIER DIVISION

Persistent rain greeted the players from Bell Inn and Aslacton and Gt Moulton for the League One play off final held at Poringland Wanderers FC. As the teams lined up, they were well aware that victory for either side would see them reach the Premier Division for the first time in their history

Both teams were looking for an early break through and with only 4 minutes on the clock Bell lnn took the lead thanks to a Luke Appleton goal. The encounter remained a tight affair as the rain continued to fall and on 30 minutes Aslacton carved out an equaliser when from a goalmouth scramble Justin Womack appeared to get the final touch from close range to level the match at one apiece.

With honours even at the break, both teams had it all to play for as the second period commenced.

Once again an early goal from Bell Inn save them regain the lead on 52 minutes, thanks to a tidy finish from Marc Garrod.

Bell Inn continued to look more likely to add to their tally, but stout defending from Aslacton meant they were still in the encounter and with the match entering the final stages they had a superb opportunity to level the scores. Dean Mortimer produced an excellent effort which brought an outstanding save from Bell Inn keeper, Chris Richmond.

Almost immediately Aslacton were made to regret their misfortune as Bell Inn scored a third on 90 minutes to seal the tie as Ian Babb slotted home to seal the victory and a deserved place in the Premier Division for the 2015/16 season.

In 3A, Tasburgh United ‘s season ended with an 8-2 home defeat to Reedham FC, whilst Hethersett Ath Res took all three points in the final 3B game as they won 4-3 at Salhouse Rovers Res
