With this Sunday being designated County Cup time, only four league games took place this weekend.

In Division 1A Dom Doggett hit his second hat trick of the season as The Middle Green ran out 8-2 winners at home to Constable Crusaders. Kieran Campbell also struck twice and there were goals for Adam Brown, Danny Cullum and Jake Mardell. Jay Dugdale and Liam Frost replied for the visitors. The divisions other game saw Warwick St United get points on the board for the first time this season as they beat Newsman Celtic 3-0.

In 1B, the top two clashed for the second time in three weeks and this time it was Sprowston Wanderers who came out on top, beating Aslacton 3-0 thanks to two Dan Childerhouse goals and a Joe Easton strike. The result sees Wanderers leapfrog Aslacton to go back to the top of the table. Briston Wanderers were also victors this weekend, Jonny Brown hitting four, Chris Fuller three and Riccy Mallet also netting as they beat Cellar House 8-2.

In the Sunday Senior Cup, Schoolhouse, winners of the trophy for the past two seasons, were knocked out when soundly beaten 5-0 at Yarmouth side Windmill. Salhouse Rovers beat Premier division Poringland Wanderers 3-2 and Silver Fox had a great win on penalties at Gorleston Rangers after a 4-4 draw. There were also wins for Acle Rangers 4-2 at Trimingham Pilgrims, Riverside Rovers, 4-1 at Farmhouse and Dilham Cross Keys, 2-1 at Phoenix FC. Norman Wanderers also progressed with a good 3-0 win at AC Mill Lane of Yarmouth whilst the biggest win of the round saw DE FC thump twelve (Mark Alibone 3, Darrell Wigger 3, Jonathan Maslin 2, Paul Suggitt 2, Fion Goodwin-Wright, Mo Bah) past Mischief FC.

In the Intermediate Cup Jeff Ayigsi hit a twenty minute hat trick after coming off the bench as Hewett OB’s won 7-1 at Brooke Res. Barracks FC hit a dozen as they beat Shouldham Youth and Blofield United were 5-1 winners at West Winch. North Walsham hit ten without reply against East Tuddenham and Harleston Town U21’s beat FC Viking 5-0. Hellesdon scored ten against Hethersett Athletic Res, whilst SNS FC, Sprowston Athletic, MC Rovers and Micawbers Tavern also made it through to the next round.

In the Junior Cup Swanton Morley from the Under 19 division produced a great result as they beat Danepak of Thetford 5-3. Attleborough Town thumped Eaton Park Corinthians and Cotman United put ten past Happisburgh Hammers. Hempnall had a good 4-0 win at Norfolk Terrier, whilst St Andrews, Woolpack FC and Mad Moose Athletic also went through. Old Catton, Aylsham, AFC Norwich, Norman Wanderers A and Watton United all secured victories to ensure their name went into the hat for the next round.

The hunt for info on all time league goal scoring records continued this week with an email from Michael Gardner. Michael was secretary of Lakenham Saints from Dec 4th 1966 until he stepped down on November 13th 1983. He kept all of his records from that period and has informed of a player from that period, Trevor Preece. The information was amazing. According to Michael, Trevor scored 508 goals from 464 games for the same club. He also scored against 102 different sides during that period and scored three or more in a match on 56 occasions. Twice he hit over forty goals in a season and made 153 successive appearances between 1977 and 1982, a run that was only ended through suspension. As I said earlier, brilliant information. Can anyone match that?
